Back on the Trails: November 3

Two ways to get outside, explore more of Riviera Nayarit and enjoy its trails, jungle and coastal landscapes.

Some of the best parts of a trip happen when you step away from the usual route. Around Sayulita, San Pancho and Punta Mita, jungle paths, coastal viewpoints and local trails offer a different way to get to know the region.

WildMex MTB and Jungle Hiking Tours return November 3, 2026. Whether you want to explore on two wheels or on foot, our local team can help you find a route that fits your visit, your pace and the kind of day you want outdoors.

A new season on familiar trails

The rainy season changes the landscape. Vegetation fills in along the trails, the jungle takes on deeper shades of green, and familiar routes can look different from one visit to the next. Riding or hiking with a guide gives you time to notice those changes and the details you might otherwise pass by.

These experiences are not just about reaching a viewpoint or finishing a ride. They’re a chance to spend time outdoors, get to know the terrain and see how the jungle, coastline and nearby towns connect across Riviera Nayarit.

Choose your way to explore

The trails are the destination. How you explore them is up to you.

On two wheels

Mountain biking

Follow singletrack through the jungle, with occasional glimpses of the Pacific. Around Sayulita, our guided rides explore the Malpaso Singletracks or Punta Sayulita trails, each with a different feel.

Malpaso has purpose-built trails that range from smoother sections to technical lines, climbs and rocky features. Punta Sayulita offers more flexibility, with options that can suit different riding levels. Our local guides know the routes and help match the ride to your experience.

Looking for a different kind of ride? Our San Pancho bike experience brings together colorful streets, murals and local art, jungle paths and time by the beach. An e-bike option is available.

On foot

Jungle hiking

On foot, the details come a little closer: the plants along the path, sounds from the trees and the way the view opens as you climb. Our hikes explore the natural landscape around Sayulita and Punta Mita, with routes that each have their own character.

Monkey Mountain (Cerro del Mono), near Punta Mita, is one of the area’s memorable hikes. The climb follows jungle paths and includes steep, rocky sections, with broad views from above. It is a physically demanding outing, so choosing a route that suits your fitness level matters.

For your hike, bring comfortable closed-toe shoes, sun protection and a small backpack. Reach out if you would like help choosing a route.

Trails we know, places we love to share

Our guides know these trails because they spend time on them and are part of the local community. They pay attention to the person as much as the route, helping find a trail and pace that fit your experience, keeping an eye on the ride or hike as it unfolds, and making space for questions along the way.

On an MTB ride, that also means knowing the bike and being ready to handle common mechanical issues. On a hike, it means knowing the local plants, wildlife and landscape, and sharing what they know as you walk.

The goal is for each guest to feel looked after while getting to know the place through people who know it firsthand and care about it.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to help you plan your time on the trails.

Do I need mountain biking experience?

Not for every option. Punta Sayulita and the San Pancho bike experience can suit a range of abilities, while Malpaso includes technical singletrack. Share your experience level with the team when booking.

What is the San Pancho bike experience like?

The route combines colorful streets, murals and local art with riding beneath the trees and time at the beach. The experience takes around 2 hours and 15 minutes, and an e-bike option is available. Confirm the current itinerary and availability with WildMex.

What should I bring on a jungle hike?

Wear comfortable clothing and sun protection, along with sturdy, closed-toe shoes. These are especially important for uneven, rocky trails like Monkey Mountain’s North Route.

How difficult is Monkey Mountain?

The North Route is a physically demanding hike, with a steep uphill climb through shaded jungle, followed by rocky sections, roots and boulders. It’s best suited to fit hikers who are comfortable on uneven terrain. An easier route via Higuera Blanca may be available if requested at least one day in advance.
