Jungle Hiking Tours
Please note: During April and May, there’s a higher possibility of encountering bees along the Jungle Hiking trails. If you are allergic to bee stings, we do not recommend joining the tour during this period.
Starting May 1st through November 15th, we’re only offering Jungle Hiking Tours at 8:30 AM due to the heat. From November 16th onward, tours will resume at 1:30 PM. Jungles where jaguars roam, beautiful hidden beaches, and exotic tropical wildlife: hiking in the Sayulita and the Punta Mita area is an unexpected surprise that few know about. With our jungle tours, you will hike along shady paths, scramble up rocks, and emerge onto rocky outcrops with 360-degree views of the surrounding jungles and beaches.
Many of the trails in the area are built and maintained by WildMex, and we are proud to show them off. Join our Wildmex guides on one of our breathtaking hikes, either hiking to tranquil San Pancho or trekking to the top of Monkey Mountain.

Upon request, we offer afternoon hikes set out 3 hours before sunset, so we can enjoy a great view from up top (check with our guides for exact times).
This is a physically demanding trip, the way up is steep and requires guests to be in good shape.
Bring comfortable enclosed shoes.
Bring a small backpack to carry essentials.
Monkey Mountain Sunset Hike
Witness the Pacific's golden hour from the best seat in Punta Mita. Reach the summit of the landmark Monkey Mountain and soak up sweeping 360° views over the coastline and beaches as the sun dips below the horizon.
Starting in the foothills, you will follow a semi-shaded jungle trail for about one hour. The route winds through lush vegetation and offers plenty of scenic lookouts before arriving at the summit just in time for a magnificent sunset over the Pacific Ocean.
At the top, enjoy a well-deserved rest with refreshing water and a granola bar while taking in the spectacular vistas. Our English-speaking guides will accompany you, providing a fun introduction to local flora and fauna and ensuring a safe descent after the show. Transportation is included for a seamless, unforgettable experience.

Sayulita to San Pancho Hike

Our guides rate this as one of the best hikes in Sayulita — this route connects the popular surf town of Sayulita with its quieter neighbor San Pancho. The hike takes you through Sayulita’s Northside and into the jungle.
After 30 minutes of relatively flat hiking, you’ll start a steady 30-minute uphill section through a small pass before dropping to the other side of the range.
Explore secluded beaches, lush jungle vegetation and tropical wildlife. Once we reach San Pancho, enjoy a short rest with fresh water and a granola bar in the heart of town before returning to our Sayulita shop by car.

Monkey Mountain Hike: The North Route

Starting near the "Patzcuaro" Rancheria, you'll embark on a 1.5-hour shaded uphill trek. The trail evolves from winding jungle paths into steep rock pitches, roots, and boulders—perfect for adventurous and fit hikers seeking an authentic, wild experience.
At the summit, relax and soak in the vistas with refreshing water and a granola bar before the descent. Our English-speaking guides ensure a safe journey while sharing insights into local flora and fauna. Note: If you prefer an easier route via dirt roads (Higuera Blanca), please let us know 1 day in advance.
