This trip is ideal for begginers and intermediates that want to take their surfing to the next level.
Day 1: Arrival
Guests will be met at the airport in beautiful Puerto Vallarta by our transport service and will be taken to their accommodation in the village of Sayulita. The scenic drive to Sayulita takes you 45 minutes north past the roadside towns of Nuevo Vallarta and Bucerias until you emerge from the jungle at the beachside village of Sayulita. Spend the afternoon and evening getting acquainted with the cobblestone streets and open-air markets of this throw-back Mexican town.
Tonight during our welcome dinner our group will enjoy one of the many great local restaurants and learn about the next day’s adventures.
Day 2: Welcome to Surf Paradise
Wake up in your casita to the crisp ocean air and the sound of the waves.
We will get together for breakfast at he best local place so that we can answer all the questions about our itinerary and any questions about the area an its services.
Our group will convene at our beach location right after breakfast for our first surf lesson. Sayulitas crescent bay and shallow sandy bottom make it ideal for catching your first waves on the long, consistent, right hand breaks. After introductions and some land lessons in safety, surfing etiquette, and basic techniques we’re ready to hit the water and catch our first waves. Wildmex’s expert instructors will teach you basic surfing dynamics including wave selection, speed and pop ups.
Our group breaks for lunch and a much needed rest. Hit the fresh fruit stand on the sand bar or grab a seaside burrito, you’ve certainly earned it. Take the rest of the afternoon at your own pace to improve on the skills you’ve learned. Your surf instructors will be on hand to work with you individually and give great tips to improve your efficiency. By the end of today beginners will have caught their first wave and more advanced riders will have perfected fundamental skills.
Tonight our group will enjoy one of the many great local restaurants and learn about the next day’s adventures.
Day 3: Find Your Stroke
Our second day of surfing in Sayulita will build on the fundamentals we have already learned. Today your instructors will take you to the next level by teaching you how to select the best waves, pivot, and optimal paddling techniques to catch waves by yourself. Get ready to move to deeper water and catch breaking waves!
Again we will break for lunch and a recovery from our morning session. The afternoon will be an open surf session to catch a few more waves and some one-on-one time with your instructors. Now you will have the confidence and skills to move onto the bigger waves and different beach breaks that lie ahead.
Day 4: Marietas Island Snorkeling Excursion
We will take a day off surfing to rest our muscles and be ready for the rest of the week. During this day we will go on a really fun boat trip over to the Marietas Islands National Park.
The Marietas Islands boat trips is an excellent mix of sight seeing and adventure. It is great for all hability levels and age groups. Starting by leaving Sayulita after breakfast on a Mexican Panga and heading South past some beautiful beaches and the incredible coastline, till we reach the Marietas Islands National Park. During our visit to the park we will be able to see lots of wildlife (whales, dolphins, turtles and endemic birds). While in the islands, our boat will take you up close the different cliffs ands caves around the island. We will also be able to stop at a secluded beach and swim in the surrounding water. To finish up our trip, we will stop at a great snorkeling spot, where we will be able adventure into a hidden beach after sorting some challenges.
On return to Punta de Mita after our excursion we will have a great lunch at one of the seaside cafes.
Day 5: Afternoon Surf trip to La Lancha by Boat
Grab your board and hit the beach early today for some open surf time. Don’t overdo it though. This afternoon we will challenge your comfort zone by boarding a boat that will take our group to La Lancha, one of the most spectacular beaches in the area. Our boat captain will drop us off for uncrowded surfing on this long point break. The longer waves at La Lancha provide great opportunities to work on riding posture and maybe even a turn or two!
Day 6: Punta De Burros Surf Trip
Graduation Day!!! Get all you can out of this last full day of surfing.
Practice surfing in the morning followed by another afternoon surf trip to an incredible secluded beach.
To access Puta De Burros we have to navigate an overgrown trail with our boards. The hike is well worth it, the waves at Burros can be more powerful and faster than anything we have ridden thus far. After a week of surfing you should be feeling pretty confident and catching waves by yourself, riding them longer, gliding down the face, and who knows , maybe even a couple of moves.
The week will end with a beautiful sunset shared with the great people you have met on this amazing surf trip. Tonight we will have our farewell dinner and maybe even a few margaritas!
Day 7: Departure
If you just haven’t had enough, get a morning surf in before your airport shuttle to Puerto Vallarta Airport.
